Panthers secure road win in Glasgow

Nottingham Panthers earned a two-goal road victory in Glasgow on Friday night, ending Clan's two-game winning streak.

The home side welcomed special guests from TIE Scotland before the game in celebration of Pride Night, as well as wearing special pride-themed jerseys. Despite the hosts coming into this game off the back of a four-point weekend last time out, it was the visitors who took the lead early. Matthew Myers won the offensive zone faceoff, back to JC Brassard, and it was Brett Welychka's pass across the slot that got caught in John Muse's pads and rolled into the net. 

The Panthers held that lead into period two, and doubled it inside two minutes. David Levin's perfect pass found Mike Hammond at the back post for a tap-in with 71 seconds played in the second. Clan responded almost immediately, however, as Craig Peacock won a faceoff straight back to Dyson Stephenson to one-time past Peyton Jones at 22:59.

Jones and his defense combined to stop the puck rolling over the goal line with 10 minutes to go in period three to keep the Panthers ahead, although it was the visitors who were controlling the majority of the possession in the third period. Jones denied Steven McParland on a 1-on-0 with 5:16 to play as the home side pushed for an equaliser.

Clan had a late opportunity to tie things up with Brassard in the box, but having struggled to create any good scoring chances the home side were then punished when Myers sniped a shot into the top corner past Muse shorthanded to give the Panthers their two-goal cushion back with 2:57 to play.
