Friday: Giants host Steelers in part one of huge weekend double-header

It could be a defining moment of the season in the Viaplay Elite League title race this weekend. Belfast Giants, currently fourth, host Sheffield Steelers, in second, for two games in successive nights at the SSE Arena.

Separated by three points, both teams are chasing down Guildford at the top and know that a split weekend, as was the case when the sides met in Sheffield earlier this season, would likely only benefit the Flames. Guildford are three points ahead of the Steelers, and have a lead of six on the Giants.

In league action, the Giants have won three of their last five games, and although they were beaten at home midweek by Guildford in the cup, Adam Keefe's side progressed relatively comfortably on aggregate.

Sheffield were defeated in Fife in the cup midweek, but are by far the league's best road team with 31 points from 17 away from home.
