Guildford Flames moved six points clear at the top of the Viaplay Elite League thanks to a home victory over Coventry Blaze and results elsewhere.
Things started well for the Flames ad it looked as if they might cruise to home win. Ben O'Connor's powerplay goal at 6:29 opened the scoring as he fired home from the circle. Robert Lachowicz doubled the lead 55 seconds later with a deflection off a Bradley Lalonde shot, but Jihn Curran pulled one back for the Blaze with 66 seconds left in period one.
JD Dudek banked a shot in off the back of Eamon McAdam to tie the game at 33:12, however the Flames were back ahead through an Ian McNulty wrist shot that went bar down to beat Paavo Hölsä at 37:42. That lead lasted untul the Blaze were awarded a penalty shot at 45:50 which was nicely dispatched glove side by Curran.
With Less than nine minutes to play, Daniel Tedesco's perfect pass set up Sam Marklund for a slapshot that beat a screened Hölsä to win it for the hosts at 51:38.
