Devils into third with road win

Cardiff Devils came from behind twice en route to a road win in Glasgow over Clan by the odd goal in seven on Tuesday night.

After an even start, Andrew McLean tipped John Dunbar's shot past Taran Kozun off a faceoff to put Clan ahead with 8:27 played. An offensive zone turnover allowed Marcus Crawford to put Jake Coughler clear 1-on-0 on John Muse to tie the game some six minutes later in the Devils' forward's first game back from injury.

Niklas Tikkanen scored his first for the Clan, shorthanded, off a Dyson Stevenson feed to put the home side back ahead with 72 seconds remaining in the opening period.

Sam Jardine, also back in action after injury, levelled for the Devils 9:11 into the second, before Trevor Cox put the visitors ahead for the first time in the game at 34:34, but 19 seconds later Haden had the hosts back level.

Cardiff went back ahead in the closing stages of period three when Trevor Cox's shot from the slot deflected past Muse of one of his own defensemen at 52:41.

That goal would turn out to be the game-winner with Clan unable to beat Koziun for a fourth time in the dying stages. Cardiff's victory assured them of a place in the playoffs.
