Cardiff Devils scored goals at key times to leave Dundee with their first victory of the week, a result which saw the Stars finish without any points in Week 23.
The Devils had long periods of sustained offensive zone pressure in the opening period, and were deservedly ahead after 20 minutes thanks to Josh Batch's shot from the point that got all the way through.
While Dundee came back into things in the opening stages of period two, it was the Devils who scored the next goal - Joey Martin doubling their lead with a tip of a Trevor Cox throw on Anton Svensson's net.
Ryan Verrier's goal from the slot off a Carter Folk pass put the Star back to within one with 90 seconds left in the second.
With momentum heading into the final period, Dundee were undone by a bench minor for having too many players on the ice, and Brodie Reid converted on the powerplay to put Cardiff back two ahead at 48:45. That goal somewhat took the buzz out of the game.
Jeff Mason pulled Svensson with 2:40 to play in an effort to find a way back into the game ,but the Stars' night was capped off by a pass in the offensive-zone ending up in their own net to make it 4-1 - the goal credited to goalie Ben Bowns who was the last Devil to touch the puck with a blocker save.
