Devils into third with home win

A four-goal home win coupled with a favourable result in Machester saw Cardiff Devils climb back into third as they beat Glasgow Clan 5-1 live on Viaplay.
The sold-out Ice Arena Wales crowd got full value for their admission money in just the opening 20 minutes with much happening before the first buzzer. Cole Sanford punished Clan for an odd-man rush with the opening goal at 10:22, with Riley Brandt putting the puck home from in close at 13:35 to double the lead. Martin's powerplay goal at 18:20 made it 3-0 before Dyson Stevenson aimed to inject some life into his Clan side when he and Mark Louis went for a full-on fight. It seemed to work with Steven McParland getting Clan on the board off an excellent Gary Haden pass with 63 seconds left in the period.
Period two was a calmer affair with no goals, while in period three Clan thought they'd got the game back to 3-2 only for Stephen Dixon's goal being washed out for a high stick on the play. Josh Brittain rubbed salt into Clan's wounds from that decision with the Devils' fourth at 5:20, while Cox scored into an empty net with 1:49 to play.
