Sheffield Steelers and Great Britain captain Jonathan Phillips has announced his plan to retire at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Phillips has played more games in the Elite League than any other player, currently sitting on 1,175 - the vast majority of those were with the Steelers, with 175 being for the Cardiff Devils. He joined Sheffield in 2006.
The Steelers' captain has lifted four league titles, three playoff championships, and in 2020 got his first Challenge Cup trophy.
He was also captain of the Great Britain side that clinched promotion to the top level of world ice hockey in 2018, and then survived relegation in both 2019 and 2021.
You can hear his reasons for hanging up his skates, and plans for the future, in the interview above courtesy of the Steelers.
