Peyton Frantti scored the game-winner for Coventry Blaze for their first road victory of the season over Sheffield Steelers at the Utilita Arena.
The Steelers took the lead at 11:53 when Matt Petgrave did well to find Tomáš Pitule for the finish past Paavo Hölsa. Marly Quince levelled with a tap-in in front of Matt Greenfield on the powerplay less than two minutes later as a feisty opening period ended all square.
There were no goals in period two although Blaze captain Nathanael Halbert had arguably the best chance to change that when he came out of the penalty box to skate clean through on Greenfield - but the Steelers goalie made the save.
A trademark Calle Ackered slapshot from the point put the Steelers back ahead on the powerplay 1:43 into period three, but two giveaways by the Steelers in just over a minute changed the course of the period - Kim Tallberg rounded Greenfield for the equaliser at 43:34, while John Curran put them ahead at 44:47.
Petgrave's shot straight off a Scott Allen faceoff win draw the Steelers level with 7:05 to play, but there was to be late drama in Yorkshire again. Danny Kristo went for a block but tripped his opponent, setting up the Blaze for a powerplay with 62 seconds remaining. Peyton Frantti saw the rebound from a Maitch Cook shot land straight on his stick in the slot to put Coventry ahead at 59:32, while Tallberg found the empty net from his own end to round it off with two seconds left.
