Panthers make it a four-point weekend

nottingham Panthers were made hard to work for it, but eventually completed a four-point weekend thanks to a home victory over Dundee Stars.

The Panthers bossed the opening stages of period one, with a hatful of chances mainly falling on the stick of David Levin who was denied by a combination of Anton Svensson and shooting just wide. The Stars grew into things as the first wound down, but rarely called Peyton Jones into any major saves.

Unsurprisingly, it was the in-form Levin who put the Panthers ahead in period two. With two minutes played in period two, the Panthers' forward shot high past Svensson to put the home side ahead. Just over three minutes, Elijah Barriga finished in front to beat a stranded Peyton Jones and tie things up. Philippe Sanche let an excellent wrist shot fly past Jones bar-down to put Dundee into the lead at 38:36.

JC Brassard tied the game early in period three when a throw on net took Svensson by surprise and went through his five-hole with 2:43 into period three. Just under six minutes later, a well-placed Levin pass saw Jakub Izacky one-time through Svensson's five-hole to put the Panthers ahead.

Dundee thought they'd tied the game with six minutes to go, but the goal was washed out after review in a bizarre situation where the play was whistled down before the puck had gone over the line - although it eventually did so. Matthew Myers finished from Tanner Sorenson's feed to round off the scoring with 2:03 to play.
