Wednesday: Flames start big week chasing leaders

If Guildford Flames are to sustain their Viaplay Elite League title bid, then this week is one they will need to be ready for.

Paul Dixon's side, who were top for a large part of the season, face Coventry Blaze this Wednesday evening in the first of three fixtures in the next five days. The Flames will head to Dundee on Saturday before welcoming Sheffield to the Spectrum on Sunday.

Standing in the way of them making use of one of their two games in hand are Coventry Blaze, a team that has been somewhat of a thorn in the side of teams chasing top spot of late. The Blaze beat Sheffield twice a fortnight ago before taking a win in Belfast last weekend. Ten points off fourth, the Blaze are effectively locked in fifth heading into the post-season.

The Flames have won all four league meetings between the teams this season, the last of which was a home shootout victory.
