Wednesday: Stars chasing down playoffs, Steelers keeping title hopes alive

It's a Wednesday night game in the Viaplay Elite League that neither Sheffield Steelers nor Dundee Stars can really afford to lose if they're to achieve their regular season aims.

The Steelers lost ground in the title race with a home defeat to Belfast last weekend, but got through a trip to Guildford to stay in the hunt. Seven points behind with seven games to play, they're effectively going to have to go unbeaten until the end of the season to have any hope of catching the Giants.

Dundee arrive in Sheffield after a double home loss at the weekend, including Sunday's game which saw them lose inside the final three minutes of the game. That result left the Stars eight points off a playoff place heading into their final eight fixtures this season. Jeff Mason's team haven't won since 4 February, a record stretching back eight games.
