Glasgow Clan have confirmed the appointment of Jason Morgan as Head Coach and Head of Hockey Operations, the first signing for the team since new owners took over the club a week ago.

The 46-year-old native of St John’s, Newfoundland, heads to Scotland having previously coached in Germany, Denmark, Hungary and Romania. During his time in Denmark, Morgan coached the Aalborg Pirates during their inaugural Champions Hockey League campaign in 2018/19. Furthermore, the Canadian enjoyed success in the Erste Liga, winning three playoff championships and two league titles across spells with DVTK Jegesmedvék and SC Csíkszereda.

Morgan's playing career saw him spent time in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild, while clocking up nearly 600 games in the AHL with eight different clubs.

“We’d like to welcome Jason Morgan and his family to the Glasgow Clan. From the outset of our search we wanted to bring someone to the club that had previous coaching and hockey operations experience to compliment the team of people we already have in place," said owner Michael O’Rourke.

“Jason comes to the Clan following a highly impressive playing career in North America and Europe. Since hanging up his skates and moving into coaching his success in the Erste Liga as well as coaching Aalborg in the Champions Hockey League has impressed us. We’re looking forward to working with Jason during an exciting period coming up for the club and the fantastic Purple Army."

Morgan added: "I’ve heard great things about the Clan organisation, the city of Glasgow, Scotland as a country and the tremendous fans that turn up in huge numbers to support the team week after week. My family and I are looking forward to joining the Purple Army family."
