Sheffield Steelers have completed signings for their blue line with the arrival of defenseman Colton Saucerman for the 2023/24 season.
The 31-year-old Colorado Springs native joins the Steelers after spending his past two seasons on the continent. He played 50 regular season games last time out for Košice in Slovakia with nine goals and 16 assists in 50 games. A year prior, Saucerman wore an "A" for Innsbruck in the ICE HL and ended with 29 points in 41 games.
"Colton his a high end two-way defenseman who can log big minutes and play in all situations," said Head Coach Aaron Fox. "He plays with some jam for his size, is a smooth skater and has high-end hockey IQ.
"Colton will come in and give that group a calming presence and be a guy we will count on to play winning hockey. He’s a character piece that will also keep the room light”
Fox concluded: "I think the back end is now complete and I love the look of how we will line up, in my own mind I have my combinations sorted but I guess until we all hit the ice for training camp, nothing will be decided."
