Saturday: Steelers and Blaze start league campaign

Saturday night's sole league fixture sees Sheffield Steelers host Coventry Blaze for each team's first live fixture of the 2023/24 season.
There are a lot of familiar faces around in Sheffield for the team that finished third last season, and hopes are high in the Steelers' camp after an impressive pre-season that saw them win three of four games against expected top-end opposition.
On the Blaze roster, Danny Kristo will be heading into the Utilita Arena to face many of his teammates from last season after moving to Coventry during the summer. The Blaze have the familiar figure of Danny Stewart behind the bench again, but go into this season with the choice of two non-homegrown netminders.
