Thompson fined for Boarding

Blaze defenseman receives fine

The Elite League's Department of Player safety has fined Coventry Blaze #44 Blake Thompson for Boarding during Game 1 between Sheffield Steelers and Coventry Blaze on 23 September 2023.

This was not a case of a player turning his back immediately prior to contact in a way that turns a legal body check into an illegal one. The onus is on Thompson to create a new angle of approach that allows him to deliver this hit legally, avoid the hit entirely, or at the very least minimise contact to ensure this is not a dangerous play.

Effective immediately Coventry Blaze Blake Thompson is fined. The incident will be recorded on the player's record for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
