Cardiff Devils confirmed on Thursday afternoon the signing of forward Brandon Alderson.
Described as a 'power forward', the 31-year-old joins from Hannover Scorpions of the German third tier where he had 44 goals and 51 assists in 59 games last season.
Having had stints in the AHL and ECHL, Alderson headed to Europe in 2017, joining Heilbronn of the DEL2. After a 54-point season there, he moved to Villach in Austria where he had 15 goals and 14 assists in 52 games in the EBEL. After a season split between the Czech and Slovak top tiers, the Canadian headed back to Germany with Landshut in the DEL2 for whom he was almost a point-per-game player in 2021/22.
"We are delighted to add experienced forward Brandon Alderson to our group. Brandon is a big powerful forward with good offensive capabilities. He moves well and plays hard," said Devils Head Coach Pete Russell. "I coached against him two years ago in Germany DEL2 and he was a player we were always aware of when he was on the ice either 5-on-5 or on the powerplay.
"He will add something different to our group, create further healthy competition and with the games piling up as we move forward, we want to create a roster that can support injuries that come up."
Alderson will not be available for this weekend's games. The dEvils also confirmed that Evan Mosey will be out for at least a couple of weeks with an upper body injury.
