Dundee Stars thrashed Scottish rivals Glasgow Clan 6-2 in the final game in Group A of the Challenge Cup.
Clan came into Dundee needing to win to have any chance at taking the fourth seed spot in the next round, but were behind inside five minutes to Spencer Naas' opener at 4:22. Darien Craighead levelled at 13:08 as period one ended all square.
Things went badly wrong for the visitors in a 67 second spell in period two. Jame Elmer converted a powerplay at 27:32 while Gary Haden sat for Hooking, with James Phelan then making it 3-1 ten seconds later from a tight angle. Clan called a timeout and put Jake Kielly into the net but that didn't stop the damage with Chris McKay making it 4-1 at 28:39.
Brett Beaudoin scored his first for the Stars 76 seconds into period three, and four minutes later Phelan struck again to put the home side into a commanding 6-1 lead. Gary Haden finished at the far post to cut the score back to 6-2 with just under seven minutes to play.
