Dundee Stars moved into fourth in the Elite League standings as they completed a weekend double over Guildford Flames, beating them at the Spectrum on Sunday in a shootout.
Delayed arriving into Guildford, the Stars found themselves a goal down inside 90 seconds through Peter Crinella. Kyle Lock then made matters worse for the visitors with the Flames' second three minutes later, although some penalty trouble slowly moved momentum back Dundee's way. Josh Brittain scoring 1:35 before the break halved the arrears and gave a new look to things heading into the second.
Ryan Valentini tied the game 9:24 into period two as things went level into the intermission.
With less than seven minute to go, Ben O'Connor put the Flames back ahead but it was a lead his side could only hold until the next shift- Tommy Parrottino levelling 43 seconds later.
The Flames had chances with two late penalties called on the Stars but couldn't convert. No goals in overtime saw things decided in a shootout where it took nine rounds to separate the teams who were locked at one each after the first five attempts. In round nine, Patrick Bajkov failed to beat Kevin Carr, setting up Drydn Dow to win it for the Stars.
