Blaze snap losing streak with shootout win

Coventry Blaze ended their four-game losing streak with a shootout win over Nottingham Panthers, coming back from 3-1 down in the process.

The crowd of 2,622 at the Skydome had to wait until 1:47 into period two to see the deadlock broken - Kobe Roth doing the honours for the hosts. They found themselves a goal down at the break, however, thanks to powerplay markers from Otto Nieminen and Mathieu Lemay at 26:14 and 37:42 respectively.

The Panthers added to their lead 9:07 into the third with an excellent, top-corner shot from Lemay that put them two ahead with just over ten minutes to play. Brady Norrish pulled the hosts back to within one ay 51:26, before Danny Kristo tied the game with 4:36 left in regulation. Roth could have won it in overtime but instead the bonus point was settled in a shootout. All square after four rounds, Alessio Luciani stepped up to score for the Blaze, while Taran Kozun stopped Carl Neill to earn the hosts the win.
