Little backstops Flyers to win over Clan

Fife Flyers pulled themselves level with ninth place after excellent 7-4 win over Glasgow Clan.

Andy Little made 47 saves for the hosts to claim his first win in the EIHL.

It was a crazy start at the Fife Ice Arena with three goals scored in just 75 seconds. Luke Lynch put Clan ahead with 4:41 played, only for Lucas Chiodo with an excellent finish after picking up a fortunate bounce 21 seconds later. Charlie Combs put Clan back ahead at 5:56 after Reid Petryk capitalised on a bad turnover from the Flyers in their own end. 

An excellent Kyle Osterberg pass set up Troy Lajeunesse for the one-timed finish at 7:41 to bring the Flyers level on the powerplay. With under 10 minutes played, Fife then took the lead as a Brady Poteau shot hit the post and Osterberg eventually put the puck home from the side of the net. 

Things got better for the home side with Jonas Emmerdahl beating Jake Kielly hight from the slot at 19:14 to put the home side 4-2 up after the first period.

After six goals in the opening period, the second only had one. Clan put Antti Karjalainen into the net at the start of the period, but he was beaten at 30:53 through a Teemu Pulkkinen powerplay marker.

52 seconds into the third, Pulkkinen converted a slick give and go with Johan Eriksson to make it 6-2, but Luke Lynch brought the score back to 6-3 90 seconds later after another mistake by the Flyers in their own end. Lajeunesse scored his second of the game off another excellent Osterberg pass on the powerplay with 53:51 played to put seven on the board for the Flyers. Matt Barry pulled another back for the Clan with 5:26 to play, but that was as close as they got before the final buzzer sounded.
