Wednesday: Top two in action plus Scottish derby

It's the first midweek action of 2024, and this Wednesday evening brings two games with a lot riding on them.
League leaders Sheffield Steelers travel to Cardiff Devils the team closest to them in the table. Cardiff are eight points behind having played two games more, and realistcially have very little margin for error in the coming weeks if they're to stay in the title hunt. Sheffield, for their part, have not lost on the road yet this season.

In Scotland, Dundee Stars could set a new franchise record with their third straight attendance over 2,100 fans. Their New Year's Eve comeback win over Belfast can only have helped the excitement among their fans, who have seen their team climb back up into the top six. Glasgow saw a two-game win streak come to an end in Fife on Hogmanay but are tied with the Stars on both points and games played. Whoever wins tonight will go into fifth.
