Coventry Blaze came back from three goals down en route to a 5-4 overtime win over Fife flyers at the Skydome on Sunday.
A turnover in the Blaze's own end led to the Flyers going ahead at 5:07 - Casey Gilling worked the puck wide to Lucas Chiodo who set up Johan Eriksson at the far post to open the scoring.
Fife doubled their lead 2:31 into period two with Eriksson this time turning provider for Chiodo with a pass into the slot form the end boards. Things got better for the visitors 75 seconds later when Chiodo tipped a Vitalijs Pavlovs shot in front of Kozun to make it 3-0.
David Clements' nice pass set up Kobe Roth for a tap-in at the top of Kevin Lindskoug's crease to get the Blaze on the board a little over two minutes later, before a flurry of the goals swung the momentum back in favour of the hosts. Brady Norrish brought it back to 2-3 at 35:04 with a JD Dudek powerplay goal tying things up at 36:34. With 1:17 left in the period, a Dudek shot hit either the crossbar or the back bar of the net, but play continued - only the intermission buzzer gave the game officials a chance to go to check the video, but the in-arena review was unable to offer them the play.
Fife went back ahead early in period three through the always-impressive Troy Lajeunesse, but Mitch Cook's first goal of the regular season brought the scores back level before the 48-minute mark.
For the second night in a row, the Flyers headed into overtime - and, for the second night in a row, they found themselves on the wrong end of the deciding goal.. Blaze captain Brady Norrish won it with a shot that tricked past Lindskoug and over the line to earn Coventry the bonus point.
