Storm shock sold-out Braehead Arena in final period

Manchester Storm scored three unanswered goals in the third period to pick up a 5-2 road win over Glasgow Clan at a sold-out Braehead Arena, recording their second win over Clan in six days.

Efficiency was the story of period one, with Storm only being credited with eight shots on goal but scoring on 25% of them. Luke Lynch was given the goal for Clan to put them ahead 3:41 into the game on a 5-on-3 powerplay with the puck deflecting in front of Evan Weninger to wrong-foot the visitors' goalie. At 13:05, Callum Fryer levelled with a puck that Antti Karjalainen couldn't quite cover, while a powerplay goal from Stephen Johnson beat the Finn five-hole with 23 seconds left in the opening period to put Storm ahead.

There was only one goal min the middle period, but it wasn't without its debate. Michael Pelech got the final touch to put the puck over the line, but Weninger thought he was interfered with on the play by a sliding Clan forward. Matt Ginn challenged the play but the goal was eventually given after a lengthy video review. 60 seconds later, on the resulting powerplay for the unsuccessful challenge, the officials were back looking at the video to see if a puck had crossed the line under Weninger, but it hadn't. Period two ended with the teams tied at two each.

New Storm signing Austin Farley cut in and beat Karjalainen in front 47 seconds into period three to put the visitors back into the lead, after after a series of penalties the Storm wrapped up the game with two quick goals - Chase Harrison and Cam Critchlow scored 77 seconds apart to earn MAnchester the two points.
