Nottingham Panthers made it two home wins in a row with a convincing 5-1 win over Dundee Stars at the Motorpoint Arena.
Dundee outshot Nottingham 10-9 in the opening period but found themselves two down after 20 minutes of action. After the Stars had chances on a Jordan Kelsall Tripping minor early, the Panthers took the lead at 12:42 thanks to Logan Neilson tapping in Westin Michaud's pass for his first home goal in competitive action for the Panthers. A little over five minutes later, Otto Nieminen won the puck well, and Anthony Luciano set up Hugo Roy in the slot for a neat finish past Lucas Brine.
The Panthers pressed home their dominance in period two. Alexander Lusjo's bottle-popper into the top corner of Brine's net put them 3-0 up with 4:08 played in the middle period, while Otto Nieminen made it four a little over ten minutes later. Lunsjo drew an excellent save from Brine off a one-timer, but the hosts were good value for their lead through two periods.
Didrik Hendrant took the puck from Neilson on the blue line, skated down the wing, cut inside and slotted over Brine's shoulder to put the Panthers five ahead six minutes into period three.
A late Jake Elmer goal broke Rok Stojanovič's shutout with 7:56 to play, but it was the Panthers' night as they took a well-earned win.
