Cardiff Devils logged their twelfth straight win with a three-goal road win in Dundee, making it a four-point weekend on their Scottish double-header.
In what was a feisty opening period, the Devils struck twice in quick succession inside the final four minutes to take control of things. Cole Sanford had put them ahead at 5:04, but an excellent Jake Elmer wrist shot beat Ben Bowns to tie things up just past the 12-minute mark. Joey Martin, who'd taken exception to a Jonathan McBean hit earlier in the period, just about got the puck over the line at 16:15 to put the Devil back ahead, with Tyler Busch then adding another just over 90 seconds later.
Dundee responded with a pair of goals in four minutes themselves in period two. Jake Elmer netted a contender for goal of the week, flying down the wing and beating Bowns from a tight angle to make it 2-3 at 31:09, before Carter Johnson tipped Drydn Dow's shot past Bowns for the tying goal at 35:40. The Devils got themselves back ahead with 94 seconds left in the period as Trevor Cox got a deflection on a Bode Wilde shot off a faceoff play to go in 4-3 up at the break.
Tyler Busch scored 1:48 into period three to gibe the visitors some breathing space again, and they needed that cushion as the Stars pressed hard for a way back into the game. Bowns pulled off a couple of smart stops to keep his side ahead, before Ben Davies ended the game with an empty-netter at 58:10.
