Over 2,000 fans saw Manchester Storm and Glasgow Clan play out a playoff-like encounter at the Storm Shelter, with Clan taking the win in overtime.
Clan raced into a two-goal lead before the Storm halved the deficit before the opening 20 minutes was over. Charlie Combs made it 1-0 with 13 minutes played in front, while a loose puck was eventually put home by Robert Lachowicz with 16:11 gone. Tyler Hinam scored with a trademark fake and shoot with 39 seconds left in the first to get Storm back into things.
Manchester tied the game 5:12 into period two with Joe Morrow joining the rush and finishing from Carter Johnson’s feed. The goal came from a Connor Lee pass in his own end to set up the breakout, the 16-year-old’s first professional point. Glasgow went back ahead at 28:27 through Philippe Sanche to end the period back ahead.
5:21 into period three, Sam Tremblay levelled the game with what turned out to be the final goal of regulation.
In overtime, Combs had a breakaway chance to win it but couldn’t out-move Evan Weninger. Robert Lachowicz earned the visitors the extra point with a second bite on a wrap-around to win the game.
