Joey Martin was the star of the game as Cardiff Devils beat Dundee Stars 6-3 on Wednesday night at the Vindico Arena.
Playing in his 500th game for the Devils, the forwarded score three of the Devils' six goals to get past Dundee.
A slick play from Jamie Arniel and Justin Crandall was finished off by Brandon Alderson with 5:01 played to give the hosts the lead, but they were pegged back by Jake Elmer's equaliser just before the eight-minute mark. With 3:06 left in the first period, Martin finished from a Crandall feed on the powerplay to put the Devils back ahead.
Martin beat Brine from long-range to extend that to a 3-1 lead 9:33 into period two, but Dundee were back in it when Cody Donaghey's hook awarded Chris McKay a penalty shot he dispatched at 38:16.
In a rare twist, the Stars were awarded another penalty shot for the another Donaghey hook 3:29 into the third, this time converted by Elmer to tie the game. McKay took a poor interference penalty with 11:11 left in regulation, and from there it started to unravel for the Stars. Trevor Cox netted on the powerplay only nine seconds later to put the Devils back ahead, with Chad Pietroniro slotting home in front at 49:37 to put them two ahead. Martin completed his hat trick with 9:12 to play, while the final 10 or so minutes of the game saw two fights to entertain the crowd further.
