Sheffield Steelers broke the 90-point mark for the season with an overtime win in Belfast in the first game of their weekend double-header.
It took just 38 seconds for Mark Simpson to give the league champions the lead, but they trailed by the time of the first intermission. Josh Roach leveled just before the eight-minute mark, while Cameron Pound, playing as a forward, put the hosts ahead at 14:57.
Period two produced no goals but that third had plenty. Kevin Tansey tied the game with just under seven minutes to play, and the Steelers then led through Mitchell Balmas with 2:41 to play. David Goodwin sent the game to overtime with the hosts’ equaliser inside the final two minutes.
Patrick Watling finished in the slot to win the game 44 seconds into OT.
