Glasgow Post-Game Interview
Comments made following game on 07/04/24
The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) puts player safety and welfare as our top priority and across the ice hockey community, pioneering work has helped inform safety in contact sports worldwide.
We are aware of comments made in a post-match interview about one of the Glasgow Clan players. The comments were in the heat of the moment following an emotional game which ended Clan’s season. Following any suspected head contact/injury, team medical staff use internationally-accepted pitch-side screening techniques before a player returns to play; if these identify any concerns, the player is removed for fuller assessment, again using the international standard SCAT-6 testing panel. If a concussion is clinically suspected, players follow a supervised recovery and return to play pathway.
Glasgow Clan has issued a clarification that the comments made in the interview were not accurate and the interview has since been taken down to avoid misleading fans and commentators. The sport has worked extremely hard to ensure everyone in the community understands the importance of player safety and the strict rules surrounding suspected head injuries or concussion and EIHL is reassured by the clarification from the club.
