At Elite League Finals events, such at the Playoff Finals Weekend and the ChallengE Cup Final, there is enhanced video review available to coaches and game officials.
This year, for the first time in the Elite League, game officials will also have the option to review Major Penalties called on the ice, as well as 2+2 High-Sticking.
Coach's Challenge:
- Goaltender Interference

- Missed Game stoppage (i.e hand pass, puck played with high stick, puck hitting safety netting, etc.) on a play leading directly to a goal
- No Coach’s Challenge in the final two minutes of the third period, or overtime - all situations will be reviewed automatically by EIHL Hockey Operations
Referee-Initiated Reviews:
- Puck crossing the goal line
- Puck in the net prior to the goal frame being dislodged
- Puck in the net prior to (or after) the expiration of time at the end of a period
- Use of a foot/skate, a distinct kicking motion
- Puck deliberately directed, batted, or thrown into the net by an attacking player
- Puck deflected directly into the net off an On-ice Official
- Puck struck or deflected into the net with a high-stick
- Puck entering the net in a proper manner through the goal mouth
- Puck entering the net as the culmination of a continuous play where the result of the play was unaffected by any whistle blown by the Referee upon their losing sight of the puck; and
- Legitimacy of a penalty shot goal
- NEW FOR FINALS WEEKEND: Major Penalties (Game officials must call a Major/2+2 (High Sticking) and then review it. Upon review may uphold the original call, reduce to a minor, or remove the penalty entirely)
