Sheffield Steelers became the first Elite League team to win in Sweden in the Champions Hockey League with a 3-2 overtime win in Växjö.

In a game where the Steelers never trailed, Daniel Leavens opened the scoring with just 69 seconds played, deflecting the puck into the Lakers' net. Dennis Rasmussen leveleld for the Lakers at 30:44, only for Daniel Ciampini to put the visitors back in front under two minutes later with an excellent wrist shot.

Filip Eriksson tipped home a shot from the point at 40:19 to level the game early in period three, despite the Steelers challenging for offside.

Still level at 2-2 after 60 minutes, extra time was needed to decide the winner and with less than 20 seconds remaining in OT, it was Vallerand firing it from the slot past Larmi to earn the Steelers their historic win and those all-important points.
