Devils too hot for Storm

Cardiff Devils continued their unbeaten start to the season with a convincing 5-1 win over Manchester Storm in Altrincham.

Having not lost in Manchester in over four years, the Devils got off to the perfect start when a blue-line mix-up was pounced on Tyler Busch feeding Ryan Barrow to open the scoring with 8:39 played.

Exactly three minutes later, Josh MacDonald one-timed Cody Donaghey's feed to double the Devils' lead on the powerplay.

5:30 into the second period, a Gleason Fournier stretch pass set Cole Sanford though to beat Evan Weninger and score on his return to the Devils. Joey Martin was credited with the Devils' fourth of the night which was batted into his own net by Dallas Ehrhardt at 31:11. 90 seconds later, the Devils broke on an odd-man rush and while Weninger stopped Busch's attempt the puck broke to Kohen Olischefski to finish and make it 5-0.

Storm avoided being shut out for a second consecutive home game thanks to a neatly taken powerplay goal off the stick of Ryan Hughes with 9:45 to play in the final period, but that was as good as it got for the home side.
