Tuesday: Steelers in Zurich on three-game CHL win streak

Sheffield Steelers head back to Champions Hockey League action on Tuesday night, with qualification to the next round still a big possibility.

The Steelers return to CHL games unbeaten in their last three outings in the competition, results that have put them eighth overall in the standings. The top 16 teams make it to the next round, and Aaron Fox's team currently have a three-point cushion over those fighting to get into the qualification places.

Any points the Steelers could pick up in Zurich would very likely put them into the next round, or at least one foot in there - not mathematically, but in a practical sense. If they return home empty handed, they have one final home game against Pardubice to try and get over the line.

Tonight, they head into the Swiss Life Arena, opened in late 2022, and widely regarded as one of the best hockey arenas in Europe.

In the Lions, the Steelers face the team currently leading the Swiss National League. ZSC have lost only one of their opening nine games, and that came to Fribourg who also beat the Steelers in the CHL campaign. The Lions eliminated Nottingham Panthers from the Round of 16 in 2017/18, the only time a team from the EIHL has ever made it into the knock-out stages of the CHL.
