Friday: Cup and League points up for grabs

We kick off the weekend action in Week 7 of the 2024/25 Elite Ice Hockey League season with two games on Friday night.
It's Cup action in Dundee, where the Stars host local rivals Fife Flyers. The last time these teams met in Dundee, the hosts skated away with a shootout win. However, their most recent meeting in Kirkcaldy saw the Flyers run out comfortable winners. The Stars will only have three cup fixtures left after tonight, and head into this one four points shy of making the Elimination Game having played one match more. Fife are also four points off, but have played a game fewer than Glasgow above them. Neither side is unlikely to catch group leaders Belfast, but putting a run together, combined with beating the Clan, could see them finish second.

There are league points on the line in Altrincham with Manchester Storm hosting Glasgow Clan. Both sides come into this game having had decent results last weekend - Storm beat rivals Sheffield Steelers in a shootout, while Clan picked up three points out of four against Belfast Giants. The Clan were, however, humbled 6-0 at home by Coventry midweek to end their run of five games with at least a point gained. Storm have won exactly half of their four league games to date, while Clan have only one win from five played.
