Hebert fined for Cross-Checking
Storm forward receives suspension
On Saturday night in Sheffield, Storm #37 Grant Hebert was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for Cross-Checking.
As the puck is played around the back of the net, the loose puck is picked up by Steelers #92 Mitchell Balmas, who is being pressured by Storm’s #37 Grant Hebert. Hebert, who is left handed, enters the battle for the puck by stretching out his stick with his right hand. After attempting a poke check on Balmas along the wall, Hebert puts both hands on his stick and raises his arms in an attempt to force Balmas off balance, at which point Balmas stops up short on Herbert to protect the puck. In doing so, Herbert raises his stick and makes contact with Balmas’s left shoulder, riding through to the back/side of Balmas’s head. This is cross-checking.
It is important to note Herbert is focused on the puck during this battle, however the onus is on Hebert to be in control of his stick at all times.
To summarise:
- This is Cross-Checking
Effectively immediately, Manchester Storm #37 Grant Hebert is fined.
