Devils blank Blaze in Coventry

Mac Carruth logged a 27-shot shutout and Zach O'Brien scored two goals as Cardiff Devils came away from Coventry with a 3-0 win over the Blaze.
Entering the game as the teams placed third and first respectively, it was an exciting opening period that ended without goals at the Skydome. The Devils came closest with a shot hitting the post of Mat Robson's net.
2:27 into period two, with Terrance Amorosa in the box, the Devils thought they'd taken the lead - however, the goal was reviewed to see if it has entered the net via a kicking motion and ruled out after the officials had checked the video.
The deadlock was eventually broken 11 seconds before the end of the middle session. Zach O'Brien neatly slotted home from Cole Sanford's pass to put the Devils ahead after the blaze had failed to clear their zone.
Reid Duke beautifully took an Evan Mosey pass and beat Robson on the breakaway 2:47 into period three to put the Devils up by a pair. Any hopes the hosts had of a comeback were all-but extinguished by O'Brien's second of the game, cutting into the slot from below the goal line to beat Robson in front.
