Period 1 saw a hasty start as the first goal was found only 3:42 in. The goal was the result of a Josh MacDonald shot that found a huge deflection from Glasgow’s Joseph Hazeldine, leading to an unprepared Landon Bow getting caught off guard and resulting in a 1-0 lead for Cardiff.
Despite both teams receiving man advantages after a Felix Pare hooking minor (15:17) and a Brad Schoonbaert slashing minor (17:37), the Devils were able to maintain their lead as the period closed out.
As the teams continued play in the second, it wasn’t long until Glasgow found an answer on the powerplay at the 23:23 mark. Cole Ully, who was assisted by Mitchell Heard and Cade Neilson, took this opportunity to get a puck over the shoulder of Ben Bowns, to put the away team on the scoreboard (1-1).
However, the score didn’t stay equal for long as Riley Brandt was able to take the puck from centre ice and pull off a slick shot into the back of net (32:07).
As the period began to close out, the Devil’s continued to fire shots at Landon Bow. This is how Cardiff found their third, after Tyler Busch managed to deflect in a Kohen Olifschefski shot on the powerplay at the 38:30 mark.
Just over a minute later, Bradley Schoonbaert extended the lead to 4-1 to close out the period (39:32).
The Devils would continue to fire early in the third with a goal inside thirty seconds. A point shot from MacWilliam would fall kindly at the top of the crease to Cole Sanford, who would tap home the rebound to make it 5-1.
And to cap off a great Friday night display, Barrow would be on the end of a great passing play between Davies and Schoonbaert to make it 6-1 and that would be how it finished.
